Clinical Assessments
Developing a clearer understanding of individual needs
What might an assessment involve?
Depending on the purpose of the assessment, this may include:
-
Clinical interviews
-
Observations
-
Appropriate assessment measures
-
Discussions with family members
-
Information from schools or education settings
-
Information from care providers
-
Input from other professionals
We consider the wider picture, including emotional wellbeing, behaviour, relationships, communication, development, learning, sensory needs and family and social circumstances.

What happens after an assessment?
We use the information gathered to develop a psychological formulation and identify practical recommendations.
Following the assessment, you will receive a written report or summary outlining:
-
Key findings
-
Psychological formulation
-
Recommendations
-
Suggested next steps
Where appropriate, we may recommend ongoing support through Midlands EduTherapy, signposting to another service, or a combination of support.

The scope, timescale and cost of each assessment will depend on the individual's circumstances and the purpose of the assessment.
We will discuss this with you in advance and provide a clear quotation before the assessment begins.
