AU-SUMS (Midlands Psychology Support Group)
Midlands Psychology CIC is commissioned to provide autism assessments and interventions for families and children aged 0 to 18 years, who are registered with a GP in South Staffordshire.
Some of the children are not able to attend school for a variety of reasons. For most, Midlands Psychology aim to support them whist working towards reintegration. However, there are some children for whom this is not possible and their repeated experiences of failure have a major impact on them, increasing their anxieties and exacerbating mental health difficulties.
Out of school, they can become the "forgotten children", whose contact with life outside the home can become exremely limited.
A voluntary group of dynamic parents have set up a support group to offer:
• A safe place for the children to meet
• Learning and support
• Information and advice
• Activities, workshops
• Social opportunities
• Meeting point for visits
• Resources (books, sensory equipment, toys etc)
• An opportunity to work towards recognised awards and qualifications
You may wish to join our Facebook Group - AU-SUMS (MPSG) for further information, advice and guidance.
In addition, if your child is aged between 7 and 17 years, you may wish to access our centre and attend sessions with your child.
We have a monthly, evening Parents Support Group on the first Wednesday of each month from 6:30pm until approximately 8:00pm. This provides an opportunity for parents to share concerns, resources and good practice.
